RECONNECT magazine is all about living a greener life in Exeter, South Devon and Plymouth. And living a greener life is all about keeping it local, so the magazine is full of local people, local business and every aspect of the sustainable local community.

It is also written, designed, printed and distributed by a team of local professionals, all of us dedicated to producing a magazine that has the maximum positive impact on individuals and communities – and the minimum negative impact on the planet.

Robin CurriePublisher
Robin Currie

Financial wizard and provider of cake at editorial meetings, Robin was until recently an independent financial advisor and a director and senior consultant for Barchester Green Investments, the UK's first IFA practice to specialise in ethical investment.

Having stopped doing that, Robin now creates extraordinary ceramics (check out his website www.robincurrie.co.uk), is completing a novel, will soon be running a new series of workshops on intuitive healing and has plans to promote a number of projects which support the environment.

Martin FosterEditor
Martin Foster

After 30 years in local and national journalism, Martin was co-publisher of the original and ground-breaking Connect positive living magazine. He has also helped run workshops to support green entrepreneurs (called Mind Your Own Business) and because Reconnect is a small team, he also works with advertisers. Martin’s wife Jenny, who has worked as a complementary therapist across Devon, also works on Reconnect. And they have a dog the size of a small car. Called David. The dog, not the car.

Pete HardyCommercial Editor
Pete Hardy

Pete has more than 30 years’ experience in local newspapers and was partner-in-crime with Martin on the original Connect magazine. Again the small Reconnect team means a blurring of roles, so although Pete also writes stories for Reconnect, the ‘commercial’ part of his title comes with his overall responsibility for looking after our advertisers – who he says are the ‘loveliest people he has ever worked with’. Which probably also says a lot about the rest of the Reconnect team.

Designer
Andy Gooding

Andy is the man behind Vision Graphic Design and has more than 15 years’ experience. He is responsible for the sharp, professional look of the magazine, the majority of the advertisement designs and this website. He also tolerates such flagrant abuse of deadlines that we’re convinced his AppleMac must have a time travel function.

Ad sales
Louise Woods

Louise has sales experience with a specialist green goods outlet and is now working as an EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) therapist - so she was the perfect candidate to help us out with ad sales, particularly on our Wellbeing section, which is dedicated to natural health, personal development and... Wellbeing. If you're looking for new clients, give her call on 07866 013 637.

Print
Kingfisher

Reconnect is printed by, and we are completely delighted with, Kingfisher Print in Totnes. They use vegetable-based inks and biodegradable fount solution, and the paper is 75 per cent post-consumer waste and 25 per cent virgin fibre from a sustainable source. It is also chlorine-free and FSC-accredited. All by-products of the production and printing processes are recycled.

AND FINALLY...

Distribution Us

Back to the small team bit again – we do it ourselves. Actually, we wouldn’t have it any other way because we want to ensure every issue ends up in the hands of a reader, so we visit the outlets personally, ensure the magazines are placed carefully in the display areas, and constantly review the system, adding new outlets where necessary. If you know somewhere Reconnect would be popular, get in touch.
